Turning 50 & Embracing Who You Are

"People may call what happens at mid-life "a crisis," but it's not. It's an unraveling, a time when you feel a desperate pull to live the life you want to live, not the one you're "supposed" to live. ...to let go of who you think you are supposed to be and embrace who you are." ~ Brene Brown ~

Today is my 50th birthday, and this quote from Brene Brown speaks very clearly to where I am in my life.

When we get older, we can choose to shed what no longer serves us, revealing who we are underneath it all. Getting older provides us with the opportunity to dig deep and not apologize for who we are, providing a sense of freedom. We must stand strong in what we believe and be clear to the world on who that is.

The world needs people to be who they were supposed to be. When we embrace this, there is a sense of freedom, a true enjoyment of life. The world is a better place when we all welcome who we are and stand strong in the uniqueness of every one of us.

I hope this day is one that inspires you to be who you are meant to be, no matter what your age. To embrace who you are and not be afraid to show who that is to the world because the world needs all of us. This is, after all, our very birthright.
